You can stay at Formerly The Blackball Hilton, giving you a central point to check out the town, the Working Class History Museum is right next door, across the road is the Blackball Workingmen's Club, you can pop in and have a drink, I am sure a friendly local will sign you in or just check out the historic photos around the bar...
A wander down through the Central Business District and you will pass our Fire Station, proudly manned by local volunteers, and right next to that is Blackball Salami, no visit to Blackball is complete without sampling their wares, opposite is the previously run Club Hotel, which I am sure is heading for a new purpose, and the General Store, these are becoming rare these days, Fish and Chips are available here 3 days a week.
Just down from the General Store is McEwen Park, it has a skateboard area aimed at the younger children and plenty of room to picnic in. Directly across from this situated in the Oddfellow's Hall, is a Artisan Craft Gallery called Currantly Oddfellows and home to Blackball Bling, 21st Century Kiwiana, office of Enjoy foods, [and there is news to come from here soon re another food outlet available] carry on down the road and you come to Colins Kereru Crafts, he makes Handmade Wooden Clocks and other lovely items, also he features many NZ made Artisans...
You can also buy local Honey from the Honey Lane back down the mainroad...
Well that takes care of Accommodation and Retail Therapy, come back soon to see posts about walks around the town, holiday houses to rent and day trips from the area returning to rest and relax in our laid back environment.
